The BJP candidate from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh parliamentary constituency, Dharambir Singh, filed the nomination paper in the presence of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and education minister Ram Bilas Sharma in Bhiwani today. Dharambir, a sitting MP from the segment, faces former MP Shruti Choudhry of the Congress and Swati Yadav of the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP). The INLD is yet to name its candidate from the constituency.

Addressing a public meeting on the occasion, Khattar did not mention the name of the party nominee Dharambir even once during the 20-minute speech at a public meeting after the nomination was filed. He, however, stressed that the BJP government at the Centre and in the state had performed to the expectations of the people and the electorate was set to give another term to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Chief Minister said the Congress had always raked up the emotive issue of poverty eradication for their electoral benefits but never did anything for the welfare of the poor people. The CM alleged that the Congress was synonymous with corruption.
