Gurugram, October 14

As per the FIR registered at the Sector 50 police station here, it was the demand for car keys by Dhruv that agitated his father’s personal security officer (PSO) Mahipal and he shot him and his mother Ritu.

The FIR was lodged by Dhruv’s father Additional District and Sessions Judge Krishan Kant at 8.15 pm on Saturday.

“Today, about 3.30 pm, while I was in court complex during course of my duty hours, I received a phone call from my PSO and he told me that he had shot my wife Ritu and son Dhruv. On this, I immediately informed my colleagues and when one of them, RK Mehta, called my wife’s number. It was answered by an unknown man that a lady and a boy had been brought to Park Hospital with gunshot injuries. We all immediately rushed to Park Hospital. There my wife Ritu told me that she along with son Dhruv reached Arcadia market and asked PSO Mahipal to wait near the car and thereafter when they returned, Dhruv asked him to handover the keys of Honda City car on which he got angry. He then shouted and without any provocation rushed towards them and fired at her. When Dhruv came to her rescue, he shot him also. The facts were narrated by Ritu to me in the presence of my colleague ADJ Jasbir Singh Kundu after which they were taken to Medanta Hospital,” reads the FIR filed by ADJ Krishan Kant.

Below the information provided by the judge, Surender Singh, SHO of the police station, has stated in his note that he along with Sub-Inspector Jaibhagwan was present in the police station when he received information that a woman and a boy have been shot at near Arcadia market and they have been shifted to Park Hospital.

The SHO said that they went to Park Hospital and gave application to the doctors for the statement of the victims. However, the doctors termed the patients unfit for statement.

The SHO’s note further says Krishan Kant, who was also present in the hospital, gave him an application after which the FIR No. 470 dated October 13 under Sections 307 of the IPC and Sections 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act was registered.

Dismissed from service

KK Rao, Commissioner of Police, Gurugram, has dismissed head constable Mahipal under Article 311 (2) (b) of the Constitution and Section 7 of the Police Act, 1861.

"My wife told me that she, along with our son, reached Arcadia market and asked Mahipal to wait near the car. When they returned, Dhruv asked him to hand over the keys of Honda City. At this, he got angry. He shouted at them and, without any provocation, rushed fired at my wife." Krishan Kant, Additional district judge

‘Recruitments  under question’

"The incident once again raises questions on recruitment in the Police Department. Such instances shatter the faith of the civil society in the state. In spite of claims of transparency, favouritism, corruption and vested interests of parties play their part in recruitment. Police jobs are tagged at a higher price than any other government job" Rajbir Deswal, retired IPS officer
