The JJP will on Monday take a call on contesting the Assembly poll in Delhi during a meeting in Sirsa called by Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala. The term of the Delhi Assembly will expire on February 22 next year.

“We have called a meeting of the state and national executive of the JJP on December 9, which is also the foundation day of the party. We will discuss the issue in detail,” Dushyant said.

Asked whether the party would contest the Delhi poll on its own or in alliance with another party, he said these issues would be discussed on Monday. The alliance, if any, would only be with the BJP, he said.

Sources said the JJP leadership was of the view that the party should contest seats close to Haryana where people from the state resided.

The sources said around 20 seats were close to Haryana, but between eight and 10 seats had a large number of voters from the Jat community.

The sources said the JJP leadership was enthused and wanted to show its prowess in the upcoming Delhi Assembly poll.
