Rohtak, January 1

Lok Sabha MP from Rohtak and Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Deepender Singh Hooda virtually sounded the poll bugle as he announced to waive the agricultural loans “within six hours of the formation of the Congress government in Haryana”, hike old-age pension to Rs 3,000 per month and halve the power tariff “within 12 hours of government formation”.

Deepender, who is the son of veteran Congress leader and two-time Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, made the aforesaid announcements while addressing a series of public meetings in the district today.

The Congress MP maintained that the decision to abolish the old pension scheme was impractical and unreasonable and the old pension scheme would be revived and re-implemented on the formation of a Congress government in the state.

Terming the BJP government as “anti-farmer”, Deepender pointed out that no special girdawari (survey) of the crop-loss caused due to hailstorm had been conducted till date.

Speaking on the Rafale deal, the Congress leader alleged that the BJP government had misled the Supreme Court by misrepresenting and concealing certain facts from the apex court, and when the said facts were exposed, the government attributed those to typographical errors.

He demanded that a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) should be constituted to get to the bottom of the matter.
