Jhajjar, December 5
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the state government to take a decision within a week about the MBBS students of the World College of Medical Science and Research here, who are on indefinite dharna in Jhajjar since September 2.
The court issued the directive while hearing a joint petition moved by the protesting students, who sought a stay on their annual examination, scheduled to commence on December 21.
“Our petition about shifting students to another college is pending in the High Court. Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences has released the datesheet of our annual examination. The government has initiated the process of shifting our batch,” said Yogita, one of the petitioners.
The petitioners’ counsel submitted that the issue of shifting the students was under consideration of the government and was likely to be finalised in a day or two. The counsel submitted that the only recourse was to shift them to another college first. The next date of hearing is on December 11.
