Chandigarh, January 25

Nikhil Saraf, counsel for the erstwhile ruler of Jind principality, on Friday threatened to take legal action against certain family members trying to spread “misinformation” about succession in the ruling dynasty.

Addressing a press conference, Saraf took strong exception to attempts by certain persons to “misrepresent” the family tree to suit their interests. “Stern legal action will be taken against such persons as their claims about succession in the erstwhile ruling family have no legal sanctity,” he said.

“The title of ‘maharaja’ was passed on to Satbir Singh after the death of his father Rajbir Singh on September 7, 1959. In fact, Satbir Singh’s coronation took place at the hands of Yadavindra Singh, father of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, in 1959,” he claimed. — TNS
