An RTI activist, PP Kapoor, today deposited a cheque for Rs 1 lakh to the Samalkha SDM for narco test on six persons, including former chairperson of the Municipal Committee, for their alleged involvement in a corruption case.

He also submitted a CD of a taped conversation, alleging financial impropriety by a contractor.

Former MC chairperson Sumitra Sharma, meanwhile, deposited documents to the SDM, refuting allegations against her.

Kapoor had filed a complaint to the Lokayukta against Sumitra Sharma, her husband Rajesh Sharma, MC secretary Shyam Sunder, municipal engineer Jaswant, junior engineer Naveen and contractor Satish Panchal, alleging their involvement in illegally awarding development works.

The Lokayukta had sought an inquiry report from the Panipat DC. On the DC’s order, SDM Gaurav Kumar inquired into the matter and found the allegations true. On the basis of the inquiry report, the Urban Local Bodies Department had chargesheeted five MC employees.

Kapoor claimed the contractor could be heard in the audio clip telling him that he was allotted 55 works for Rs 80 lakh after giving Rs 3.8 lakh in bribe on August 14, 2014.

He has demanded narco test on the six persons. “I will bear the cost of narco test. For this, I have deposited a cheque for Rs 1 lakh in the name of Lokayukta,” Kapoor added.
