Gurugram, June 7

Over 12 policemen were injured in a clash with residents of Ramgarh village in Badshahpur last evening during an anti-encroachment drive carried out on land belonging to Ansal builders.

While the SHO of the police station was rushed to Medanta- The Medicity, five or six other police personnel were admitted to the General Hospital in Gurugram along with two residents.

The police said violence erupted as residents attempted to stop construction on a plot in the village. The residents claimed that builders had coerced them into selling their land, including the plot.

The villagers accused the police of using power to help the builders get the land though the matter was sub judice.

“We asked the residents to show us documents to prove that they could legally halt the work, but they turned violent,” an official said.
