Constable’s widow gets Rs 30-lakh compensation

SONEPAT: Superintendent of Police Pratiksha Godara gave a cheque for Rs 30 lakh to Pooja Devi, the widow of constable Rakesh of Rohtak’s Asan village, in her office here on Tuesday.

Superintendent of Police Pratiksha Godara gave a cheque for Rs 30 lakh to Pooja Devi, the widow of constable Rakesh of Rohtak’s Asan village, in her office here on Tuesday. The cheque was given on behalf of HDFC Bank.

Rakesh had died in a road accident on June 17 while coming to duty from his native village. He was inducted into the Haryana Police in 2012.

The bank has contributed 50 per cent

The amount paid by the bank is 50 per cent of the compensation that Pooja will receive. The Police Department would contribute the other half, a police PRO said.
