Karnal, July 20

Sumitra Chauhan, state president of the women’s Congress, on Thursday advocated a ban on triple talaq, claiming it to be against women.

“It is an inhuman practice and should be banned,” she told the media here.

Chauhan was in the city to oversee arrangements for the proposed programme of the women’s Congress here on July 21.

“During the July 21 programme, Rajya Sabha member Kumari Selja will launch ‘Shakti Mahila’ app, which will connect Congress workers with party president Rahul Gandhi,” she said.

Chauhan, meanwhile, criticised the state government for the “deteriorating” law and order situation.

“Rape, murder, loot and dacoity have become a routine thing in the state,” she said.

She thanked Rahul for inducting four leaders of the state in the Congress Working Committee. “This shows the importance of Haryana in the political scenario of the country,” she added.
