Class XI student stabs teacher

SONEPAT: Mukesh Kumari (45), an English teacher at Shri Ram Krishan Senior Secondary School in Bhigan village of the district, was seriously injured today after being stabbed three times by a Class XI student in the classroom today.

Mukesh Kumari (45), an English teacher at Shri Ram Krishan Senior Secondary School in Bhigan village of the district, was seriously injured today after being stabbed three times by a Class XI student in the classroom today.

She was taken to the Civil Hospital by school staff and was referred to BPS Government Women Medical College at Khanpur Kalan in the district after preliminary treatment, said Dr Ekta, medical officer.

“The victim has now been referred to the PGIMS, Rohtak,” said Neeraj Tyagi, college principal.

Tyagi said Mukesh was attacked allegedly by the student when she went to his desk and asked for the homework. After stabbing her thrice, the student tried to escape but was caught by teachers.

Sunit Kumar, SHO, Murthal police station, said police had taken the student into custody. DSP Virender said a case would be registered. — TNS
