Rs 75 lakh seized from car at naka

Gurugram: In a major haul, the surveillance team posted in Gurugram on Friday seized Rs 75 lakh at a naka in the Civil Lines area. The team recovered the currency from a Swift Dzire and lodged an an FIR. The team recovered 37 stacks of Rs 2,000 notes and two stacks of Rs 500 notes in a paper bag. The driver was identified as Kuldeep Singh of Nawad Fatehpur village. — OC

Notices served on seven candidates

Hisar: The Returning Officer has served notice to seven candidates of the Nalwa Assembly segment for not maintaining the expenses register of the electoral campaign. Returning Officer Uttam Singh said the seven candidates had been asked to submit their reply within three days. TNS

10 more companies deployed for poll

Chandigarh: Haryana has got 10 additional companies of Central paramilitary forces for maintaining law and order during the Assembly elections. With additional deployment, the total number of Central security forces has gone up to 130 companies. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Navdeep Singh Virk said on Friday the Union Ministry of Home Affairs had allocated two companies each of CRPF and SSB, one of CISF and five of Karnataka State Armed Police. Vote and get 40% off on food bill in Rohtak

Rohtak: The owners of two hotel-cum-restaurants Rivoli and Maharaja here will give 40 per cent discount on lunch and dinner to customers who exercise their franchise and show the inked finger on October 21, the day of polling in the state. The announcement was made after a SVEEP meeting chaired by the DC on Friday. The move is aimed at encouraging the voters to cast their votes. TNS

Holiday on Oct 21

Chandigarh: In view of elections, the state government has declared October 21 a closed holiday for all shops falling to enable employees who are enrolled as voters in Haryana to exercise their franchise. TNS
