BSF official cremated in Rewari village

Mortal remains of Raj Kumar (50), Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) with the Border Security Force (BSF), were consigned to flames with military honour at his native Chhavva village under Kosli sub-division here on Saturday. He had died of brain stroke while on duty at Chhattisgarh on Thursday night.

Mohit, son of Raj Kumar, lit the pyre whereas a contingent of the BSF reversed the arms and fired a volley of shots in the air to bid farewell to the departed personnel. Kosli MLA Bikram Singh Yadav, SDM Uttam Singh and people from various sections of the society attended the last rites and paid tribute to Raj Kumar, who is survived by wife, two daughters and a son.

“Raj Kumar had joined the BSF in 1988 and was posted with the BSF 82 Battalion at Kanker district in Chhattisgarh. He suffered a brain stroke on duty on November 7 and was rushed to Shri Narayanan Hospital in Raipur in a critical condition where he died on Thursday,” stated a press release issued by the district authority on Saturday.

Ram Kishan, cousin of the deceased, said on getting the information about the sudden demise of Raj Kumar, they immediately left for Raipur to bring the body to the village.
