Kaithal: District and Sessions Judge MM Dhonchak  on  Thursday made surprise visits to District Jail, the old age home  and  Bal Ashram.  He inspected facilities being provided to the inmates and  discussed their problems related to health and other issues.  He     stressed upon the need to maintain cleanliness at all these places.   He  was accompanied by   CJM  Madhulika and CJM-cum-Secretary, DLSA, Manpal Ramawa. Workshop on social media

Karnal: The Dyal Singh College Alumni Association on Thursday organised a training programme-cum-workshop on ‘Social media: uses and abuses’. Experts, including Jishant Malik, Anoop Joshi and JC Sahil Baluja, highlighted the pros and cons of the social media. Pankaj Aneja, president of the association, and Sandeep Arora highlighted the objectives of the alumni association. College principle KL Gosain appreciated the efforts of the association in organising such programmes for the benefit of students. TNS

Three held for murdering youth

Kurukshetra: The police have arrested three persons for allegedly murdering a youth, who was an accused in a sexual harassment case. The deceased has been identified as Dharambir. Among the arrested persons is the brother of a minor girl, who was allegedly sexually harassed. On January 23, Dharambir and two of his friends, reportedly drunk, allegedly harassed the girl near her house. When the girl cried for help, her brother rushed to rescue her. In a fit of rage, her brother hit Dharambir with a pan on his head. TNS

Robbery bid at Sonepat shop

Sonepat: Seven youths entered a shop at Patel Nagar here on Wednesday and attacked the shop owner’s sons with knives and other weapons. Though the brothers were seriously injured, they foiled the attempt of the youths to loot the shop. The movement of the youths was captured by CCTV camera installed in the shop. A case was registered against unidentified persons. OC

Burnt body of ITI student found

Sonepat: The burnt body of a youth, identified as Brijesh (22), was found from a dried cow dung cake store outside the district's Baghru village on Thursday. He was identified from his shirt lying 200 ft away. Blood was also noticed near the shirt. He was a student of the ITI here. Brijesh had gone to the ITI on Wednesday morning, but did not return, his brother said in his complaint. OC
