Samalkha MLA Ravinder Machroli today met Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar at his residence in Chandigarh and offered to resign over the audio CD controversy. However, the CM declined his resignation, the legislator claimed.

In the audio CD, the MLA is heard threatening a cop for arresting a person against whom a cheating case was registered. The audio clip has gone viral on social media.

Machroli said, “I am an MLA and score of people meet me daily for their problems. To resolve their problems, I had to call many officials, private individuals and others. Sub-Inspector Rajbeer, with whom I am speaking in the audio clip, had made the CD viral.”

He said, “I objected to the police action only. In a CCTV footage, it is clearly visible that cops misbehaved with the person I am talking about in the CD and his wife at Atta village and forcibly picked them up from their house.”

They were not involved in any heinous crime, then how could a policeman behave with them like this, he asked.

SP Rahul Sharma said, “I have ordered an inquiry against SI Rajbeer for a video in which he is seen picking up the accused and his wife. The Samalkha DSP will conduct the probe. SI Rajbeer has been sent to the Police Lines till the inquiry concludes.”
