The JC Bose University of Science and Technology (YMCA), Faridabad, has been ranked as the best state government-owned engineering institute in Haryana. It has also been ranked 144 among the top 200 engineering institutions in the country as per the ranking released by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

Though NIT-Kurukshetra (Rank 41); National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM), Sonepat (117); and Northcap University, Gurugram (117); have been placed higher, the YMCA is the only state government-owned university that has been included in the top 200 list.

While NIT-Kurukshetra and NIFTEM are Central institutions, Northcap University is private. Manav Rachna University International Institute of Research and Studies, Faridabad, another private institution, has been placed at 164th spot.

It was the third time in a row that YMCA has found a place in the list of top 200 institutes. The other state-owned engineering institutions like the University Institute of Engineering (UIET), Kurukshetra University; UIET, MD University, Rohtak; UIET, Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST), Sonepat; and UIET, Guru Jambheswar University, Hisar; have failed to find a place in this list.

While 25 engineering institutes from Haryana participated in NIRF-2019, the YMCA secured a place on the basis of the significant progress made by it in the last three years in the standard parameters used for the ranking, it is claimed.

The NIRF has been designed to rank various Indian universities and other institutes of higher education in the country. It outlines a methodology to rank academics, technology and research institutions on the basis of standard parameters, which include teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity.
