With a Central team expected this month in connection with Swachhta ranking, the local Municipal Corporation (MC) is leaving no stone unturned to make Karnal the country’s cleanest city.

It has scored 150 Swachhta points so far as 17,444 downloads of the Swachhta mobile app have been made by citizens, more than double the mandatory figure of 8,000 downloads.

Moreover, the MC is running ahead among all corporations in the state in Swachhta app ranking, calculated everyday on the basis of user engagement, agency responsiveness and user happiness between April 1 and December 31 last, duration for the Swachh Survekshan 2018.

Officials of the MC have been making passionate appeals to citizens living within MC limits to contribute towards making the city clean. The Union Government has kept 4,041 cities and towns in the competition this year. The rank is given on the basis of Swachhta app in three categories based on population.

One category is for population below 1 lakh, another for population of between 1 lakh and 10 lakh and the third is for population above 10 lakh, said Priyanka Soni, Municipal Commissioner.

Apart from downloading app, points were fixed for resolving the complaints being collected on Swachhta app launched by the Union Ministry, she added.
