Seven labourers, including four women, were injured seriously when a car drove over them in near the railway station gate around midnight on Sunday.

The victims were sleeping under a shed. The injured were taken to the local civil hospital by the GRP at the railway station.

After preliminary treatment, four of them -- Ram Bharose, Sidharth, Geeta and Dhuni Ram -- hailing from Reeva in Madhya Pradesh, were referred to the PGIMS in Rohtak. The other three -- Bhanumati, Jamna and Dhunni -- were admitted to the hospital.

According to information available, Subham of Panipat was driving an automatic Honda City car owned by his father was returning after celebrating Lohri with the family of his uncle in Sonepat.

He lost control over the car near the railway station and it entered the open shed area after breaking the iron grills outside the railway station.

Ashok Lakra, SHO, GRP, said the youth was overpowered by passengers at the railway station and handed over to the GRP. After registering a case, he was on Monday produced in court, which released him on bail. — OC
