Sonepat, December 9

Additional District and Sessions Judge Sushil K Garg sentenced four persons to life imprisonment and acquitted one in a murder case.

Rahul of Agwanpur village and Gopal of Gannaur in the district and Ashok and Sachin of Kila Zafargarh village in Jind district were sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering Pawan Tyagi of Garhi Kesri village on December 23, 2016. However, the court acquitted Dharam Raj of Gumar village for want of evidence.

The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 1.10 lakh each on the convicts.

On the complaint of Pawan Tyagi’s nephew, Nitin, a case of murder was registered against the accused at the Gannaur police station on December 23, 2016.

In his complaint, Nitin stated that Pawan was a witness in a case of murder of his elder brother Ram Sarup Tyagi about 10 years ago.

Nitin alleged that the accused had tried unsuccessfully to pressurise Pawan not to become witness in the case. On Pawan’s statement, Sonu and Naveen of Kheri Taga village and Sheelu of Sardhana village in the district were sentenced to life imprisonment. — TNS
