3 held for extorting jewellery from minor

The police have arrested three persons, including a juvenile, and recovered from them gold jewellery, silver coins and other articles worth Rs 4 lakh that they had extorted from a local boy.

The trio was produced in a local court that sent two of them in judicial custody and the juvenile to a reformatory in Ambala.

SP Astha Modi said here on Thursday that a team led by CIA-2 incharge Subhash Chand arrested Randeep alias Sonu and Rakesh from Kutabpur village under Section 386 and a 17-year-old boy from Patti Afgan.

Earlier, Raj Pal of Sector 19, HUDA, here had lodged a complaint with the police that his 15-year-old son Kishore had befriended the trio few months ago.

They gave Kishore a joy ride on a bike and later, started demanding cash and jewellery from Kishore. Under threat, Kishore stole jewellery items lying in a boxed bed at his house.

When his mother took stock of the costly items, she was shocked to see that most of the items were missing.

On questioning Kishore, he revealed how his three “friends” had threatened him, told him to steal cash and jewellery from his home and hand over those to them.

The Civil Lines police registered a case on July 15 and later, the case was handed over to CIA-2.
