The district police and health authorities have made special arrangements to ensure safety, security and well-being of residents on Diwali.

Rohtak SP Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said 23 nakas had been put up across the town and three teams of traffic police would remain on roads to ensure smooth flow of traffic. “Police will patrol marketplaces and officials of the CIA wing, in plain clothes, will keep a vigil on suspicious and anti-social elements,” he maintained.

The SP has appealed to residents to inform the police on control room numbers 01262-100, 247200 and 9996464100 in case they come across any suspicious person or activity.

The authorities of the PGIMS as well as that of government health centres are also geared up to promptly treat patients of burn injuries and other such cases in view of the festival. The doctors have been asked to remain available at the hospital or on call in the event of need.

The leaves of the police and fire services officials have been cancelled in order to prevent/tackle any untoward incident during the festivities.—TNS
