Hisar, September 13

The two factions of the All India Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) on Thursday organised separate functions to mark the death anniversary of Jat youth Sunil Sheoran, who was killed during a clash with the police in Mayyar village in 2013 during the quota agitation.

The faction led by Yashpal Malik announced that they would oppose Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s function in Kaimari village of the district on September 22.

Leaders led by Ram Bhagat Malik accused the government of backtracking on its promises. They said they would oppose the government until their demand for quota and withdrawal of criminal cases were met.

The rival faction led by Hawa Singh Sangwan said they would hold a rally in Jind on December 18 on their demand for quota.

Reacting to the parallel event, he said Yashpal Malik had been exposed as he was fooling Jats in Haryana while collecting hefty donations from them.

“He is apparently hand in glove with BJP leaders and is trying to create fissures in society on caste lines,” he pointed out. — TNS
