Rewari has hit the headlines for wrong reasons yet again as two men hailing from Gujrat were allegedly intercepted, abducted, and robbed of whooping Rs 4.5 crores and dumped in the fields.

The duo, employees of P Vijay Kumar Company, Ahmadabad, were driving to Ahmedabad from Chandni Chowk last night and were attacked near Dharuhera by a dozen of armed robbers who came in three cars.

After robbing them of their cash, car and mobiles, they tied their hands and legs and threw them in the fields near Rajasthan border.

They somehow managed to reach a roadside dhaba and called the police.

According to the complaint filed by Karan Patel, who is a driver with the company, he along with the other employee, Gajender Rathore, was going to Ahmedabad from Delhi with company’s Rs 4.5 crore in their Etios car.

“We started from Chandni Chowk sometime after 7 pm. When we entered Haryana it was somewhere near Dharuhera, when my boss called us and minutes after his call I saw three cars trailing us. Within minutes they started cornering us. While one came in front the other pressed from the side and thid hit us from behind forcing us to stop. Around 12 men came out carrying rifles and pulled us out.

“They were well aware of our travel plan and cash as they said they had been waiting for us.  They took over our car, forced us to sit in another and after driving around for a while tied and threw us in the fields near Rajsthan border,” he said.

As per the complaint, an FIR has been registered against unidentified robbers under Sections 395 (dacoity), 397 (dacoity with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt) of the IPC and Section 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act at Dharuhera police station.

“We have formed four special teams, including our cyber crime team, to nab the accused. We are also probing the need and legitimacy of carrying this amount of cash by road to Gujarat from Delhi”, said Rahul Sharma, SP, Rewari.
