In a shocking incident, a 13-year-old boy, a resident of the slum area in Sector 37 here, drowned after allegedly falling into a rainwater-filled pond. The victim, according to his family, had gone out of his home on Sunday afternoon to play, but never returned.

When the family went looking for him late last night, they saw a crowd gathered near the water body and found their child inside it. He was immediately rushed to nearby hospital where he died today.

While no FIR had been registered till the filing of this report, locals blamed the civic authorities for negligence for the death.
