Faridabad, December 17

A 30-year-old security guard was charred to death in the cabin of a crane in the NIT area on Sunday night.

The victim, identified as Jatin Bidhuri of Ankhir village, had gone to sleep in the cabin in the Raja Chowk area around 9 pm.

Sources said that the cabin caught fire. The police arrived soon after, but the victim succumbed to his burn injuries before he could be taken to hospital.

“The cause of the fire is still to be ascertained. It is suspected that the victim had either put on a mosquito coil or left a burning cigarette before going to sleep,” said a police official.

Bidhuri was employed by a private contractor to guard the crane. — TNS
