Karnal, December 20

To highlight the burning issues pertaining to education and pedagogy technology along with creativity in methodology in education, The Tribune in association with Chandigarh University organised annual Principals' meet and excellence awards ceremony in Hotel Noor Mahal, Karnal.

Principals from 60 schools of Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panipat and adjoining Radaur and Pundri participated and shared their ideas on “Innovation Pedagogy and Effective Teaching and Learning”.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr RS Bawa, Vice-Chancellor of Chandigarh University, encouraged the Principals to strengthen the foundation of students. He emphasised on the use of technology and inculcating core human values in students for holistic development.

Dr Bawa discussed about the changes in the higher education sector.

Citing the example of Chandigarh University, he said that they have adopted a hi-tech system and made the university paperless as most of the works were being done without paper.

He also mentioned that the students of their university are performing well in all spheres of life.

KK Bajaj, former Dean of Colleges-cum-Director of Himachal Pradesh University, College Development Council, acknowledged the Principals as role models and exhorted them to have positive attitude and focus on creative teaching methodology.

"One should not follow routine activity as teaching is not a one-way traffic," he said. Students must excel and bring out their true potential, he added. Bajaj stressed on steady reading. "Don’t try to cover the syllabus in haste, but uncover the subject."

He praised the services of The Tribune group and maintained that this esteemed newspaper is the mirror of society and it has done a commendable job in journalism.
