Youth Congress leader booked for murder bid

SONEPAT: Youth Congress leader Devender Sharma has been booked for attempt to murder following an incident of firing in Gohana before the voting for election of the office-bearers of the district unit of the party began today.

Youth Congress leader Devender Sharma has been booked for attempt to murder following an incident of firing in Gohana before the voting for election of the office-bearers of the district unit of the party began today.

The case was registered on the complaint of Indian Youth Congress secretary Devender Kadiyan, whose younger brother Virender Kadiyan is contesting the election for the post ofdistrict president.

Devender Sharma is also a contender for the post.

In his complaint, Kadiyan stated that he was passing by the Devender Sharma’s booth this morning when three shots were fired at him, allegedly by Sharma and others.

On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and the polling process was completed under their supervision.

Due to the firing incident, only 668 of the total 1,800 voters could cast their votes. The results would be declared on December 4.

Rajpal Singh, SHO, Gohana city policestation, said the case was being investigated.
