Shyam Singh, SSB Inspector General (IG) in Kumaon sector, has appealed to the security agencies of India and Nepal to step up to cooperate for stopping human trafficking across the borders of both countries and take cooperation from NGOs in this connection.

Addressing a meeting of security officers from Nepal and India at Banbasa border in Champawat district, the IG said human trafficking from Nepal could not be stopped until security agencies working at border get close to cooperate in this subject.

“We have suggested putting on hoarding at hipline number pillars at both sides of border for the purpose of awakening people on the subject,” the IG said.

District police officials from Kanchanpur district of Nepal emphasised on stopping child labour in Indian establishments. “We expect cooperation of Indian officers in this connection,” said NB Rawat, district police officer of Kanchanpur district of Nepal.

Besides security officers from bordering districts of both countries, members of NGOs working to abolish human trafficking at the border place were present at the meeting.
