World Bank team inspects Rampur hydropower project

SHIMLA: A team of World Bank officials yesterday inspected the 412 MW Rampur Hydro Power Station, Bayal, to examine the working of all six units of the project.

A team of World Bank officials yesterday inspected the 412 MW Rampur Hydro Power Station, Bayal, to examine the working of all six units of the project.

Co-task team leaders Kwawu Gaba and Rohit Mittal of Rampur project said, “Its completion is a testimony to the long partnership between the bank and the SJVNL. We believe that hydropower, can play an important part in helping India move to a lower-carbon path of economic growth.”

An SJVNL release issued here stated that the project was generating 450 MW electricity which is more than the design energy of 412 MW when the team visited the powerhouse.

The team met the people of the project-affected villages and reviewed the works done by the project management under the corporate social responsibility and sustainable development and environment management.

General manager, SJVNL KK Gupta stated that the excellent technical knowledge and experience shared by the World Bank during the construction of the project played a major role in the commissioning of the project.
