Women win majority of wards in Gohana

Women candidates have won 13 out of 23 wards in the Gohana Municipal Council. They won not only in the wards reserved for them under different categories, but also in five other wards.

Following have been elected as the Municipal Councillors. Ward Number 1- Nahna Ram, 2- Sunil, 3- Annu Dilawar, 4- Shobha Rani, 5- Sujita, 6- Sumer, 7- Asha, 8- Rajni, 9- Mukesh, 10- Bijender, 11- Anju Bala, 12- Neelam, 13- Divya, 14- Rajesh Devi, 15- Anju Rani, 16- Rajbir, 17- Arti, 18- Jagbir, 19- Jai Prakash, 20- Sonia, 21- Saroj Bala, 22-Vijay, 23- Jagdeep.

Rajiv Jain, BJP’s state vice-president, and district president Dharambir Nandal said the majority of the elected members had faith in the policies of the party and the leadership of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

2 held for threatening voters

Kaithal: The police have arrested two persons for allegedly threatening people to vote in the favour of a candidate during the urban local body elections here yesterday.

The police also recovered an Alto and a knife. The accused, including a nephew of the candidate, were produced in a local court which remanded them in judicial custody. Sumit Kumar, SP, said today that Sub-inspector Dharam Pal got a tip-off that Surinder Ranjha, a candidate from ward 31, had given Alto to his nephew Nishu. He along with Amit of Amaragarh colony here and two others were carrying arms in the car to coerce people to vote in the favour of Ranjha. Nishu and Amit were arrested when they were threatening the voters. Other two accused fled the spot, said the SP.

A case under Sections 188, 171 F, 506, and 120 B of the IPC and Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered.
