A woman has been booked for fraud after it came to light that she got herself allotted eight plots in various urban estates of the state by filing false affidavits.

Whether the allotment of plots under reserve category to the accused, Chameli Devi of Sisana village of Kharkhoda tehsil in Sonepat, was an act of negligence on the part of HUDA officials or they were hand in glove with the allottee would be revealed after police investigation into the case completes.

Following directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, HUDA inquired allotment of multiple plots across the state, during which it was discovered that Chameli Devi had eight plots allotted under ‘reserve category’ in various urban estates of Haryana.

The woman had got one a six-marla plot in the Urban Estate, Kaithal, on December 2, 2003.

Besides, she had one plot each in Rohtak , Gurugram, Bahadurgarh and Panchkula and two plots each in Sonepat and Faridabad. All these plots were allotted to Chameli Devi between 2000 and 2006, according to the HUDA record.

On the recommendation of Mandeep Kaur, SDM-cum-Estate Officer, HUDA, a case has been registered against Chameli Devi under Sections 419 and 420 of the IPC at the Civil Lines police station here.

The Civil Lines police have also booked two others under Section 420 of the IPC who had got allotted more than one plot in HUDA sectors under reserve category by allegedly filing false affidavits.

In the first case, the beneficiary, Bajinder Beniwal of Canal Colony here, got allotted two plots; one of the two plots was allotted to him in Sector 20, Kaithal, in 2002. In the other case, Kurdia Ram of Budhana village of Narwana Tehsil got two plots; one of these was allotted in 2000 in Sector 19 here.
