Rewari, March 25

A woman of Bisoha village delivered a baby outside the labour room of the Civil Hospital here today.

The family of the woman has accused the hospital staff of negligence. Dr Pushpa Bishnoi, Civil Surgeon, has ordered a probe into the matter. However, she denied any negligence on part of the hospital.

Rambir, Bala Devi’s husband, said he had brought his wife to the Civil Hospital from the village in the wee hours today after she experienced labour pain. The doctors on duty suggested her to take a stroll instead of treating her properly. Bala later delivered a male baby on the floor outside the labour room in the hospital, he said.

After the delivery, she and the newborn were rushed to the labour room. The infuriated kin of Bala reached the Civil Surgeon’s office and lodged a omplaint against the hospital staff.

The Civil Surgeon went to the labour room and took stock of the situation. She questioned the doctors and nurses on duty about the incident.

“Prima facie, no negligence has surfaced in providing treatment to the woman, but the medical superintendent (MS) has been tasked to inquire the matter,” said Bishnoi, maintaining the woman had been admitted as soon as she reached there.

She said the woman was asked to take a walk for a normal delivery. Both were healthy and undergoing treatment in the hospital, she said.
