Tourism Minister Dinesh Dhanai performed prayers to start the winter Char Dham Yatra here today.

He said the Congress-led state government was committed to revive tourism sector in the state.

He said the winter Char Dham Yatra would be proved beneficial for attracting tourists from across the country.

“The state government has reconstructed the damaged infrastructure along the Char Dham Yatra route to ensure smooth conduct of the pilgrimage,” he said.

He said the basic amenities like road, health centres, etc. were reconstructed along the yatra route to avoid inconvenience to the pilgrims.

He requested the ‘pandits’ to spread awareness about the Char Dham Yatra with an aim to attract more pilgrims to state.

He said it was the duty of the residents of Uttarakhand to extend maximum possible help to pilgrims and tourists in case of emergency.

He said the Char Dham Yatra would be beneficial for the social economical status of the villagers living in the mountainous areas of the state.

State Urban Development Minister Preetam Singh Panwar said the winter Char Dham Yatra was started on the lines of the Cham Dham Yatra.

He said the Congress-led state government was committed to reconstruct the damaged infrastructure in the disaster-hit areas of the state.

Former MLA Kedar Singh Rawat, Yamunotri Mandir Committee secretary Purushottam Singh, Zila Panchyat chairman Jasoda Rana, Prakash Singh Aswal, Pawan Uniyal, Ramanand Dabral and many more were also present.
