Nawanshahr, March 11

Angad Singh, youth leader and sitting Congress MLA’s son, has defeated his uncle Charanjit Singh Channi (AAP) at Nawanshahr.

Angad got 38,197 votes while his uncle Channi could only manage third place by grabbing 32,341 votes. Jarnail Singh Wahid of SAD secured second position by getting 34,874 votes.

Angad said, “I don’t regret defeating my uncle as he should not have contested against me in the first place.”

After observing that things were going against him, Channi left the counting room and stood alone for several hours at the balcony. Later, he left the venue.

In Banga, SAD’s Dr Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi, a first-timer and an ENT doctor, defeated AAP’s Harjot Kaur by just 1,893 votes.
