Putting the entire blame for the chaos and unruly behaviour in the House on the BJP, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said it was very unfortunate that the Opposition members had not maintained the sanctity of the House, which was known for high level of debate in the country.

Talking to media persons after the House was adjourned, Virbhadra said that they were not only using unparliamentary language but were also shielding those who had attacked the Principal of the college and his wife. “There is equal and opposite reaction to every action. We will have to speak in the language they understand,” he remarked. He said the Leader of Opposiiton should have stopped his party MLAs from behaving in such a manner. “He is a two-time Chief Minister but he seemed helpless as he did not try to control his party MLAs and convince them to have debate and dialogue to put across their viewpoint,” he remarked.

He alleged that besides the ABVP activists, some outsiders were involved in the attack on the Principal of Sanjauli college and his wife and said that entire incident was premeditated. He said law would take its own course and such students must be rusticated, adding that the media had also presented only one side of the story.

He criticised the BJP members for not participating in discussion on the government resolution regarding eviction of small and marginal farmers from encroached lands.
