Ludhiana, January 23

A local court has directed the bailiff to take possession of sports ground at Kila Raipur from Grewal Sports Association and handover the same to Lt Col Surinder Singh Grewal.

The orders were passed by the Court of Civil Judge (Junior Division) Harpreet Singh in an execution application.

The order for providing police help in taking possession of the land has already been passed.

The court stated that the Grewal Sports Association could remove the structure over the disputed land and in case they fail to do so and there was any difficulty in taking possession, the winners of the case can get the raised construction demolished.

Pattidars of Kila Raipur had won the case against Grewal Sports Association in 2012. Thereafter, the association filed an appeal against the judgment.

But on September 28, 2015, the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Bishan Saroop dismissed the appeal filed by the association. The appellate court upheld the claim of villagers on the land.

Initially, more than 35 villagers had filed the case staking claim over the land. It was pleaded that the ground was given for conducting rural sports for 3-4 days in a year.

The matter would come up for hearing on January 29, 2016.
