Jammu, October 22

As BSF soldier Gurnam Singh (26) battles for his life after being injured in a sniper attack by Pakistani troops, his family has requested that he be shifted to a better hospital outside the state.

People are making a beeline to Gurnam’s house in Arichana village with prayers on their lips for his early recovery.

“Since we got the news about the incident we have been praying to Waheguru,” said Gurjeet Kour, sister of Gurnam. She said her brother was in a critical condition and the government must shift him to a bigger hospital outside the state where he can be treated.

Gurnam is undergoing treatment at Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu. He was injured on Friday morning when Pakistani snipers targeted him as he was instrumental in foiling a major infiltration bid along the international border in Kathua district.

Mandeep Singh, Gurnam’s younger brother, appealed to the people to pray for the early recovery of his brother.

Locals said Gurnam always wanted to join the force and guard the borders. — PTI
