Cabinet Minister Anil Vij welcomed the Shaheed Samman Jagriti Yatra here today. He slammed the Congress for sidelining the freedom fighters and taking credit of winning freedom for the country.

Vij said, “The real freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh were ignored and people of a particular party took the credit. A notification must be issued and book carrying information about them should be published for the coming generations to know. The yatra will play a crucial role in it.”

Yadvinder Singh Sandhu, Bhagat Singh’s grand-nephew who led the Yatra, demanded a museum dedicated to the freedom fighters should be built so that the people realise that we did not get freedom in charity. We will present a memorandum to President Pranab Mukherjee in this regard.” Vij too supported his demand.

The Yatra carrying soil from Bhagat Singh’s Samadhi Sthal started from Amritsar yesterday and will conclude at the India Gate in New Delhi tomorrow, also the birth anniversary of the martyr.
