Even as the Jalandhar Police claimed to have cracked the sensational triple murder case in less than 24 hours, an investigation by The Tribune revealed that not only Paramjit Kaur, her mother-in-law Daljit Kaur and her friend Khushwinder Kaur too were possibly the targets.

Also, the mobile phones of Paramjit Kaur and Khushwinder Kaur were found missing from the crime spot.

Accused Amaninder Singh’s elder sister Sonia claimed that she along with her mother had repeatedly warned Tejinder Kaur Ruby, Amarinder’s paramour, to end the illicit relationship, but she refused to listen. “Rather she had threatened me and my mother,” said Sonia.

She also claimed that when she asked her brother why he killed their mother, he said assailant Vipin, who once worked with the family, wanted to take revenge from her as she got him fired from his job. Sonia said Vipin was close to Ruby and he introduced her to Amaninder. Despite repeated warnings by Daljit Kaur, Vipin kept on arranging meetings between the two and was finally fired from his job.

SHO Prem Singh said while the call details of Paramjit Kaur were checked, the police were yet to track Khushwinder Kaur’s cellphone details.

Khushwinder Kaur’s husband Barjinder Pal Singh said though her purse and gold jewellery were found intact, her mobile phone was missing. “The police informed me that they are searching for it,” he said.

Jalandhar Police Commissioner Arpit Shukla said the police had enough evidence that would prove Amaninder guilty. “We will soon trace the missing mobile phones and nab the assailants,” he said.
