Victim’s family in deep shock, wife attempts suicide

“My dad went with a request to lower down the volume so that we could study. Was this the reason to kill him?” asked the perplexed 13-year-old daughter Falak, while her seven-year-old brother Shubham was sobbing as the relatives consoled him.

It was a heartrending scene at Gajja Jain Colony in Moti Nagar. Just a few hours ago both children — Falak and Shubham — had no clue that their life will take such a tragic turn.

The victim’s wife Sonia and her two little children are in a state of shock. The challenge of nurturing the children alone was evident on her face.

Since the time of her husband Shashi Shekhar’s death Sonia has twice attempted suicide. Finally, she came to terms with the tragic loss. “What if the accused are sent to jail? It will not bring my husband back. Now, I have to spend the rest of my life alone. I have to live just for the sake of my children. Shashi was such a caring father and a loving husband. The person who used to look after our wellbeing is no longer with us. God will punish Amit. He will never be able to live peacefully,” Sonia said.

Victim’s mother, who saw her son being killed, was in shock. She said she had no inkling that Amit would stab her son.

Shashi’s father Kumar Naushad, who is a social worker, and in whose arms his son died, said: “I tried my best to save my son, but failed. I wish Amit had killed me instead of my son. How unfortunate I am as I have to perform the last rights of my son,” he said.

The family is waiting for Shashi’s younger brother Micky to return from Australia following which the funeral would be held.

Commissioner’s order goes up in smoke

It has come to light that Jassi, who owned the migrant quarters, had not carried out police verification of the occupants.

But no action has been taken against him, reasons best known to the authorities. According to the police, the accused, Amit, who hails from Tarn Taran was an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker.

He had taken the room nearly a month ago from Jassi and was posing a nuisance for area resident, as he played loud music in the morning. Residents had even brought the matter to the notice of Jassi, but he told the occupants that he had some work with Amit and hence could not tell him to leave the place.

Congress leader Ishwarjot Cheema, while blaming the police for the murder, said people were reluctant to call the police as they were notorious adding more trouble instead of resolving their issues.
