Except for non-seasonal veggies including broccoli, peas or round gourd, the rates of almost all seasonal vegetables are stable for now.
Vendors said a vast variety of veggies were available in the market and buyers looked satisfied with the rates. The prices are expected to be stable in the next few days as well.
Gurmeet Singh a vegetable shop owner at Dandi Swami, said almost all vegetables were less than Rs 50-60 per kg except for out-of-season vegetables. Round gourd— also called tinda—which most people “dislike”, was available for Rs 150 per kg, peas for Rs 50-60 per kg, while broccoli was being sold for Rs 120-130 per kg.
Gurmeet said the vegetables come from Himachal Pradesh and Malerkotla among other places, adding that the rates would become stable in another two months.
Rajita Sood, a resident of Civil Lines, said people have heaved a sigh of relief after a long time as the prices of vegetables were skyrocketing.
“There are plenty of veggies available in the market at affordable prices and we are feeling relieved right now,” she said.
