Vasant Utsav will be organised at Raj Bhawan here from February 24 to 25.

Uttarakhand Governor KK Paul today held a meeting with officials of the Department of Horticulture to discuss the preparations.

The Governor said the aim of the festival was to give a boost to floriculture and cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants.

The postal cover for this year’s spring festival will be on jambu, a medicinal plant found in the high-altitude areas of the state. It  is used as a flavouring agent and  for its medicinal properties. A special stamp exhibition will be part of the event. 

The Governor said children should be encouraged to take part in a paining competition, a regular feature of the annual flower show.
