Uttarakhand Police defeated Young Cant in the final match of the Anil Godiyal Memorial Six-a-Side Cricket Tournament at the Survey ground here today.

Uttarakhand Police batting first made 110 runs with a brilliant knock of 52 runs in 17 balls by Ravi Bisht. In reply, Young Cant could manage only 82 runs in the stipulated overs, thus losing the final match by 28 runs.

Ravi Bisht from Uttarakhand Police was adjudged the man of the match while Manoj was adjudged the best bowler of the tournament.

Pratap Kandari was adjudged the best batsman and Varun Rawat was adjudged the best fielder of the tournament.

Culture and Tourism Promotion Committee president Jot Singh Gunsola gave away the trophy and a cash prize of Rs 10,000 to the winners.

Meanwhile, in the final match of the Nand Kishore Bamboo Six-a-Side Cricket Tournament held at the academy ground, Haridwar defeated MPG College, Mussoorie, by four wickets. President of the Uttaranchal Cricket Association Chandra Kant Arya, who was chief guest on the occasion, gave awaythe trophy and citations to the winning team. Roop Chand, coordinator of the Nand Kishore Bamboo Cricket Academy, and MPS College principal Mukesh Lal were present.

Indian Public School beat Summer Valley by 7 wickets

Indian Public School thrashed Summer Valley School by 7 wickets in a match during the Colonel Sashi Memorial Cricket Tournament in Dehradun on Sunday.

Summer Valley School chose to bat first and scored 66 runs. In reply, the Indian Public School team comfortably achieved the target in 11 overs at the loss of three wickets.

In another match, Maa Anandmayee School beat Pestle Weed College team by four runs.

Six Haridwar players make it to Uttarakhand team

Six school players from the district have made it to the list of under-16 of the Uttarakhand zone. Those listed will be representing the state in the inter-state under-16 cricket championship to be organised in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, from April 28.

The selection was held at Abhimanyu cricket stadium and Maharana Pratap Sports College, Raipur, Dehradun, recently.

According to Cricket Association of Haridwar general secretary Inder Mohan Barthwal, six players have been selected for the Uttarakhand zone team.

The selected players are Aashwani (captain), Adnan Ali, Jishnu Singh Bal, Kunal Singh, Ranjeet Singh and Gaurav Kumar.

Meanwhile, Cricket Association of Haridwar president Neeraj Kumar has congratulated the selected players, expressing hope that they will play a pivotal role in winning the championship for the state.
