Chandigarh, February 21

For the second time, the Chandigarh Administration has failed to get consultant for the flyover project at the Tribune Chowk.

The Engineering Department floated the tender for the consultant after it failed to get anyone in the first attempt.

The department fixed the last date for the tender today but again no one came forward to offer their services. Chief Engineer Mukesh Anand has confirmed that the department has not received an offer from any consultant. He said the department would invite fresh expression of interest after relaxing the terms and condition for the consultant.

Recently, MP Kirron Kher also took up the case with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, to ask the consultants empanelled with the National Highways Authority of India to take over the work.

The Administration sought services of the consultant to prepare a comprehensive plan on the type of flyover to ease traffic from the roundabout. The Administration has already prepared a tentative estimate of around Rs 300 crore for the project. Tribune Chowk is an important junction that falls on the national highway and thousands of vehicles pass through the roundabout every day.
