US woman gangraped in Dharamsala

DHARAMSALA: A 46-year- old US woman lodged a complaint with Dharamsala police today evening that two unidentified persons gangraped her in Kotwali market of Dharamsala on September 14.

A 46-year- old US woman lodged a complaint with Dharamsala police today evening that two unidentified persons gangraped her in Kotwali market of Dharamsala on September 14.

The police have registered a case under section 376 of the IPC on the complaint of the US woman.

The police have also formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the DSP Dehra, Renu Sharma, to investigate the case. She said that the complainant woman had visited India for the first time. She visited Kullu and Manali before coming to Dharamsala. Her medical examination was being conducted and culprits would be nabbed soon, she said.

The US woman has alleged in her complaint that she had been staying in Kotwali market for the past about one week. She had gone to Kotwali market to purchase some grocery on September 14 late evening. Two persons gagged her and she fell unconscious. They took the victim to a secluded place and took turns to rape her, the US woman has alleged in her complaint. The statement of the complainant US lady has been registered before the Magistrate.
