Another militant has been killed in an ongoing gun battle between security forces and the ultras near the LoC in Uri Sector of north Kashmir, taking the death toll in the failed infiltration bid to three which includes an army jawan.

“Body of one more militant was recovered today from the site of the encounter near the Line of Control (LoC)," a senior Army officer told PTI here.

The slain soldier has been identified as Harpreet Singh, a resident of Abu Suad village, Ajnala, in Amritsar.

Besides, the Army officer said, three weapons and three backpacks were recovered from the scene of the encounter.

A fierce gun battle broke out in Boniyar area of Uri sector yesterday after the army launched an operation following inputs about the presence of three to four militants in the area.
