Award ceremonies may give many the ‘cold feet’, but musicians at MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) set the stage on fire and the flames soon reached the internet. Undoubtedly, the most intense moment arrived with Drake presenting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award to the Barbadian singer Rihanna (Riri) and backed the gesture with an overwhelming speech where he declared that he’s been in love with Riri since he was 22 years old. You are allowed to say “Awwwwww....” just like everyone on Twitter did!

However, that’s just the base of the cake, and we know you wouldn’t have it any other way than with a cherry on top; so when it was time to hand Riri her award we were treated to what’s sure to be the most awkward three seconds of television this year. The two, who were also rumoured to be dating, were confused between kissing and hugging each other; finally settling for a hug. We pulled out a few fast ones on the two being ‘stuck between the kiss-or-hug’ zone that Twitter took to:

Sweet tweet

“I’ve loved you since I met you”

“Thank you for that amazing speech”

Sporting the music

While Britney Spears made an appearance on MTV VMA for the first time after 2007, but Beyonce stole the show with an extended performance inspired by Lemonade—Like a boss! “Collars up!” we say, or actually no, since talking of fashion for women, they gave dress-shirt industry a miss! However, that wasn’t much of a loss, for most gold-winning Olympians made it to the award show and some interesting revelations came to fore; the best of them was the story behind Michael Phelps’s viral angry face. Phelps walked the red carpet with fiancée Nicole Johnson and presented rapper Future’s set during the show. He introduced the rapper by raffling off his own viral #PhelpsFace meme, explaining that it was a Future track, Stick Talk, which inspired it. The show also witnessed gymnasts Aly Raisman, Madison Kocian, Laurie Hernandez and Simone Biles.

Fallon for you

Everybody loves Jimmy Fallon, best known for imitating Donald Trump on his show Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and he presented the video of the year, dressed as Ryan Lochte and even sported the platinum blonde hair! As Lochte - who is dealing with trouble after filing a false robbery report over an incident during the Rio Olympics - Fallon lied on stage about writing Justin Bieber’s Sorry and directing the clips nominated for video of the year.

Web of fame

The award show also had Joanne the Scammer, the gender-bending comedian and Internet’s darling who he made a cameo during Nick Jonas’ Bacon performance during Sunday’s awards’ show. Now that you got your fill on the tittle-tattle that engaged the viewers, as much as the internet audience, might as well get to know those who took the trophies home. Also, those of you who haven’t updated your music list, here’s some cutting-edge line-up—the best a man get; and women too. We like the idea of equality!
