The protest over sacking of English lecturer of Meritorious School at Civil Lines intensified after various teacher unions pledged support to sacked teacher Ravinder Singh.

The representatives of various teachers’ union today conducted a meeting at Punjabi Bhawan to discuss their next course of action.

All union members expressed their views against the school authorities, who gave silly reasons to terminate Ravinder Singh.

The teachers lambasted the authorities and stated that sacking someone on the basis of poor dress sense, when there is no dress code of school staff and poor result, when the school or board result was yet to be declared, was not justified.

All representatives of the unions concerned visited the DEO office and handed over the memorandum to District Education Officer (Secondary) Sarabjit Singh.

Rupinderpal Singh Gill, Ramanjit Sandhu, Sukhwinder Leel, Manraj Singh, Manpreet Samrala and Nirbhai Singh along with supporting union leaders from unions SSA / RAMSA teachers union, 3,442 teachers union and Punjab subordinate federation were also present.
