Two more private universities will come up in the state soon. A committee to testify essential formalities has been constituted and it is expected to give its report soon, Dr Jagdish Prasad, Director, Higher Education, said here today. “The opening of Mount Valley University at Bhawali in the Kumaon region and Bhagwant Global University at Kotdwar in the Garhwal region has been recommended. The process to give permission for starting these universities will be initiated after essential formalities are completed. A committee has been formed for the purpose,” said Jagdish.

He added the new private universities were being given permission as the existing government universities were not in a position to meet the increasing demand of job-oriented education from students hailing from the hill region. “Students from hill areas are moving to other parts of the country in search of new job-oriented courses and hence we decided to allow opening of these universities,” he said.
