Jind, July 3

Deputy Commissioner K M Pandurang got a power connection installed at the state’s first village secretariat in Haibatpur village today.

He went to the village after a news item - 2 months on, Haryana’s 1st village secretariat powerless- appeared in these columns today. An enquiry to ascertain the reasons behind the delay was also ordered by him.

The DC and ADC Gauri Prashar Joshi inspected the complex which was inaugurated on April 12 by CM Manohar Lal Khattar. Officials of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) said they got the security amount on July 1 only resulting in the delay.

The panchayat contested this claim and said that they had passed a resolution in this context on May 6 and had submitted it in UHBVN office. “Since then we have been asking officials to know the exact amount of security but no one told us. After heated arguments on July 1, we were asked to deposit Rs 15,740 which we did the same day. The officials are at fault, alleged Ramesh Kumar, secretary of the panchayat in front of Pandurang.

Xen Amit Kamboj did not attend his mobile while the DC directed the ADC to conduct an investigation.

Pandurang also conducted an inspection of government hospitals and directed the staff to provide quick health facilities to the patients.
